The 2005 Masters
Starting Thursday, The 2005 Masters begins with a solid field.
Obviously, Phil Mickelson is straight off a fresh win, so he is a favorite, along with being last years Masters Champion. Tiger Woods is having a hot season as well as the #1 in the world, Vijay Singh. Then, of course, we have Ernie Els who has a solid 2005 season going for him. After yesterdays excruciating finish, I wouldn’t mind seeing Jose Maria Olazabal make a move this year.
I am involved in the Sportsline Fantasy Golf Challenge and my Top 5 picks for this years Masters are:
- Tiger Woods
- Phil Mickelson
- Fred Couples
- Mark O’Meara
- Ryan Moore
I mean, you can’t go wrong with Fred Couples. I think he has made the cut every year he has been there plus he is a fan favorite. Then you have Ryan Moore, who has won nearly every amateur event you can think of in 2004.
Lets see what Mr. Moore has won last year
- The U.S. Amateur
- The Western Amateur
- The NCAA Championship
- The Sahalee Players Championship
- The U.S. Amateur Public Links
He did that in a series of months in 2004, and he is 22. He even thinks that he has a strong chance at taking the Masters Championship.. You know what, I wouldn’t put it past him with that resume he has already built up. He will be a strong contender I think.

Well as much as I would like to see Freddie win it all this year, as he is in my top 5 favorite golfers, I think I’m going to go with Vijay. The guy just plays to consistant all the time. I mean he is always in the hunt. He’s played good all season, just missed some putts here and there and made a fatal flaw where he hit that ball in the water at Sawgrass.
