Stopping the spam
Well, if you have been around here, you would have noticed the “Technical Difficulties” banner that was hanging at the top of this page. We were having a comment system issue, which was actually my fault as I had a setting in our comment config file goofed. It has been fixed and comments should be working just fine, except I have had to enable Comment Moderation. Some Spammers have already found a liking to our comment system and are trying to inject some unwanted postings, so for the time being or until a solid solution can be found, all comments will have to go through an approval process. Unless your a spammer, I will approve your message. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hey. Yeah, spammers suck. I had my settings in blogger set to let ANYONE comment on any of my posts, and I checked out my site one day to find 72 comments. 72. All of them were ads and worthless crap. So I’ve had to restrict who can comment. Now you have to be registered, and I hate that. I want to go back so that people don’t have to register if they don’t want to. Any suggestions? Is there a better comment program out there for bloggers? As far as the one you’re using now (where you have to approve comments), is that available to anyone? Or is there a fee involved.

Well, I use Movable Type, and it has built in comment moderation. Its free, just go to movabletype.org
I am not sure with blogger, since blogger is basically a prebuilt system with you using a username. I have never used Blogger for my actual blog.
You could always make a switch over to Word Press.
