Holmes in second place at FBR

Since I live in Lexington, Ky, I thought I would write a short article about a golfer from Lexington.

J.B. Holmes is from Kentucky, and went to school here in Lexington at the University of Kentucky. For those who have no watched this man play, do so NOW! I think J.B. will make a huge impact on the tour this year. For those who don’t know, or you didn’t read the title of this post, after the second round he stands alone in second place by shooting a 7 under 64.

Although I’ve never played with John, I do know a couple people that have played with him. I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about his golf game, and actually got to see him for the first time at Q School, and he definitely lived up to the hype. He’s a great golfer, period.

I think the most amazing thing about John is his drives (Although I understand he’s got an amazing short game, I just didn’t get to see much of it at Q School). A lot of talk has been going around about Bubba, and although Bubba probably has a slight edge in distance, John is right there. He’s averaged 311 yards off the tee for the second round at the FBR, and his longest of the day was 365! I think the most amazing thing is that he seems to only take a 3/4 swing on each shot, but still smashes it.

So…if you’ve not watched him play yet, watch the FBR Open tomorrow. I think you’ll become a J.B. Holmes fan very soon.
