Johnson almost holes out for 59

On a day of super low rounds from a large chunk of the field, Zach Johnson (the 2007 Masters Champion) won the low round battle firing an incredible round of 60 during Saturday’s Tour Championship. How does one fire 60 at East Lake? There are many ways, but Johnson chose the bogey free method with 8 birdies, 9 pars, and 1 eagle. Johnson said he started thinking of the magic 59 as a possibility after holing his eagle putt on 15. Johnson was left with only one option to shoot 59 by the 18th hole, and that was to hole out his bunker shot. Surprisingly enough, the distance to the hole was 50 feet, 9 inches. Johnsons bunker shot, though, did not fall but came within 10 inches of hitting the cup as it rolled by. Check out Johnson’s scorecard:
