Even though I am writing this one day late from when it started, a great charity recently wrote me to talk about their program, Pink on The Links. They have partnered with Champ Spikes for an inaugural Mother’s Day event where major manufacturers such as Nike, ECCO, and Hi-Tec get involved. Champ Spikes, the leading spike company on the tour has many of the best players wearing their spikes. To honor mothers all around the world, but also to fight against breast cancer, players are being asked to shelve their traditional metal/rubber spikes and sport a set of hot pink spikes instead.
Harris MacNeill, President of Champ Spikes, said the following:
“Our hope is that all of the players will wear them. We wanted to create a program that would be highly visible so that the players could make a statement, yet not take their attention away from their game. This was a perfect opportunity for us to honor mothers everywhere and directly fund research to find a cure for a disease that affects so many women. We hope to expand this program in the years to come and make this an annual event until a cure for breast cancer is found.”
Pink on The Links currently has an EBay auction taking place until May 20th where buyers can get their hands on some fantastic autographed merchandise that can help raise money for the Pink on The Links program, which in turn benefits the fight against breast cancer.
