2009 U.S. Open underway…err…wait suspended

So the 2009 U.S. Open got underway this morning for only 3 hours. Golf.com claims 3 hours and 16 minutes. I think 14 minutes, 39 seconds is more accurate.

Headlines were burning this past week with reflections of Tiger’s amazing 1-legged victory last year to Phil Mickelson’s recent return to golf as he was assisting his wife Amy through her breast cancer diagnoses. We wish the Mickelson family the absolute best of luck.

So as the world became pumped to watch the 2009 Open get underway…mother nature had different plans and sent torrents of rain upon the golfers sending them inside for the rest of the day.

Leading at 1 under are Jeff Brehaut, Johan Edfors, Andrew Parr and Ryan Spears. Tiger Woods is 1 over after 6 holes.

From the looks of things, 2nd round play will NOT commence by the end of Friday, and baring any more weather delays may send the tournament into a Monday finish.

Our money is still on Tiger given his play at the Memorial 2 weeks ago, and his emotional victory last year. It is nearly impossible to count him out of ANY tournament. Seeing Phil pull out a victory for his wife would be great as well.

See you tomorrow.
