The inaugural Masters Tournament (then called the Augusta National Invitation Tournament) was won by Horton Smith. Smith shot a final-round 70 to edge Craig Wood by one stroke. Bobby Jones co-founded the tournament with Clifford Roberts and played as a competitor.
