The Masters
Runner-up: Byron Nelson
Craig Wood finally won the Masters title after two previous near-misses (including the 1935 playoff loss to Sarazen). Wood shot a final-round 72 to hold off Byron Nelson by three shots. Wood also won the U.S. Open that same year, his only two major victories.
