Bob Goalby won the Masters when Roberto De Vicenzo, who had played a birdie on the 17th hole, signed an incorrect scorecard showing a par instead. The rules required the higher score to stand, giving De Vicenzo a 66 instead of 65 and costing him a tie. Goalby won by one shot in one of golf's most heartbreaking episodes.
