Jack Nicklaus won his fourth Masters title, putting him in a tie with Arnold Palmer for most Masters victories at the time. Nicklaus finished three shots clear of Bruce Crampton. It was the first leg of his attempt at the Grand Slam, as he would go on to win the U.S. Open too.
