The Masters
Runner-up: Ed Sneed
Fuzzy Zoeller became the first Masters debut winner since Gene Sarazen in 1935, winning in a sudden-death playoff over Ed Sneed and Tom Watson. Sneed had led by three shots with three holes to play but made three consecutive bogeys. Zoeller's easy-going personality won over the Augusta galleries.
