Craig Stadler won the Masters in a sudden-death playoff over Dan Pohl after both finished regulation at -4. Stadler, nicknamed "The Walrus," had led for much of the tournament but bogeyed the final hole to fall into the playoff. He parred the first playoff hole while Pohl made bogey.
