The Masters
Runner-up: Mark Calcavecchia
Sandy Lyle became the first British winner of the Masters, holing a bunker shot from the 18th fairway bunker to set up the winning birdie. Lyle played a 7-iron from the sand to within 10 feet and holed the putt, winning by one shot over Mark Calcavecchia. One of the great clutch shots in Augusta history.
