The Open Championship
Runner-up: Al Watrous
Bobby Jones won his first Open Championship at Royal Lytham. Jones played a miraculous recovery shot from sandy waste ground on the 17th hole in the final round when Al Watrous, his playing partner, had a much easier shot and crumbled. A plaque marks the spot of Jones' famous shot. Jones won by two strokes.
