Walter Hagen won his fourth and final Open Championship at Muirfield. Hagen beat Johnny Farrell, the reigning US Open champion, by six strokes. His four titles placed him equal with Braid, Taylor, and Vardon at four (with Vardon having six). Hagen was 36 years old at the time of his final Open win.
