The Open Championship
Runner-up: Sid Brews
Henry Cotton ended American dominance of The Open with a brilliant performance. Cotton opened with rounds of 67-65 (the 65 was so famous that Dunlop named a ball the "65" in its honor). Despite a bout of food poisoning in the final round, Cotton won by five strokes, restoring British pride.
