The Open Championship
Runner-up: Peter Thomson
Bobby Locke won his fourth and final Open Championship at St Andrews. Locke beat Peter Thomson, his great rival, by three strokes. Locke memorably marked his ball on the final green, replaced it slightly off its mark, and holed out — a rules infringement that was waived as it had not affected the outcome.
