The Open Championship
Runner-up: Costantino Rocca
John Daly won The Open Championship at St Andrews in a four-hole aggregate playoff after Costantino Rocca of Italy holed a miraculous 65-foot eagle putt on the 18th green to force the tie. Daly, who had earlier won the 1991 PGA Championship, hit the ball enormous distances. He won the playoff convincingly. Rocca's emotional celebration of his putt, then crying in disappointment after the playoff, was one of golf's great scenes.
