Padraig Harrington won his first Open in a four-hole aggregate playoff against Sergio Garcia after one of the most dramatic finishes in recent history. Garcia had led throughout the final round and needed only a par on the 72nd hole but three-putted from 10 feet. In the playoff Harrington won by a stroke. Garcia has not won a major since.
