Padraig Harrington successfully defended his Open Championship title at Royal Birkdale, becoming the first player since Tom Watson (1982-83) to win back-to-back Opens. Harrington won by four strokes over Ian Poulter after a final round 69. Greg Norman led after 54 holes at age 53 but fell away in the final round.
