Shane Lowry won The Open Championship at Royal Portrush in front of an adoring Irish crowd in one of the most emotional sporting occasions in recent memory. Lowry led by six strokes entering the final round and, despite howling wind and rain, shot a 72 to win by six over Tommy Fleetwood.
