Ken Venturi won in brutal 100-degree heat, nearly collapsing from heat exhaustion. A doctor walked with him in the final 18 holes (played the same afternoon as the third round). Venturi made a miraculous comeback after years of physical and personal struggles. He stumbled to the 18th green barely able to stand.
