Tom Watson chipped in from thick rough on the par-3 17th hole to take the lead from Jack Nicklaus, then birdied 18 to win. Watson shouted to his caddie "I'm going to make it!" just before holing the chip. Nicklaus, watching on TV in the scorer's tent, was stunned. One of the defining moments in major championship history.
