U.S. Open
Runner-up: Payne Stewart
Lee Janzen came from behind to win his second US Open. He was aided by extraordinary fortune when his ball became lodged in a tree on the 38th hole yet he was able to identify it and take relief. Janzen made birdie on the 18th hole while Payne Stewart bogeyed to fall one short. One of the great final-round US Open reversals.
