U.S. Open
Runner-up: Robert MacIntyre (+1)
J.J. Spaun delivered one of the most dramatic major championship victories in recent memory at the 125th U.S. Open. Playing Oakmont Country Club — one of golf's most brutally demanding venues — Spaun was the only competitor to finish under par for the entire championship, closing at -1. The final round was a masterclass in resilience. Spaun stumbled badly on the front nine, posting a 40 (+5) and seemingly handing the title to his rivals. But he transformed on the back nine, making birdie after birdie in the closing stretch. He birdied four of the final five holes, capping the comeback with a stunning 64-foot birdie putt at the 18th hole that sealed his two-stroke victory over Scotland's Robert MacIntyre.
