Walter Hagen won the first of his record five PGA Championship titles, defeating Jim Barnes 3&2 in the 36-hole final. Hagen's charismatic personality and showmanship made him the sport's greatest celebrity. He was the first American-born player to win the Open Championship (in 1922) and his PGA dominance was just beginning.
