PGA Championship
Runner-up: Byron Nelson
Henry Picard won the PGA Championship by defeating Byron Nelson 1-up in the 37-hole final. Picard, also the 1938 Masters champion, was at the peak of his powers. Nelson would go on to become one of the sport's all-time greats; this narrow loss was one of the few setbacks in his brilliant career.
