Lanny Wadkins won the PGA Championship in a sudden-death playoff over Gene Littler at the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links. Both finished regulation at -9. Wadkins made birdie on the third playoff hole to win his only major championship. The PGA at Pebble Beach was one of the few times this venue hosted the championship.
