Larry Nelson won his second PGA Championship in a sudden-death playoff over Lanny Wadkins at PGA National. Nelson made a dramatic 60-foot birdie putt on the 18th to tie Wadkins in regulation, then won the playoff on the first extra hole. The win was Nelson's third and final major championship.
