Martin Kaymer of Germany won the PGA Championship in a sudden-death playoff over Bubba Watson at Whistling Straits. Watson would have won in regulation but was disqualified from a playoff hole for grounding his club in a bunker he did not realize was a hazard, elevating Kaymer to the playoff. Kaymer made par on the first playoff hole to win his only major championship.
